Cambridge University Press is launching University Publishing Online which will provide research and academic works in eBook format. Their new digital publishing program will be a “digital content platform for other academic publishers.” As of this writing, Boydell & Brewer, Liverpool University Press, The Mathematical Association of America and Foundation Books have joined, with more being added frequently.

Customers and academics will have access to backlist of PDF titles, library support tools like MARC records, usage reports, and hyperlinked references. Currently, University Publishing Online has 12,000 searchable titles. Plans are to upgrade and improve the site at least twice per year.

Director of Academic Publishing at Cambridge University Press, Dr. Andrew Brown states: “(University Publishing Online will be) offering a highly sophisticated common search engine, University Publishing Online will set new standards for the integration of key academic content with a user-friendly interface and customer-oriented purchasing models of unrivaled flexibility.”
