Fantasy author Leland Modesitt on Politics, Reality and Romance

By Linda McMaken

With a background as fascinating as his fantasy novels, author Leland (L.E.) Modesitt intertwines the harsh realities of his life into compelling fantasy. Before penning bestselling sci-fi and fantasy novels, Leland was a search and rescue pilot in Vietnam, and ran a Congressional office under President Reagan. While his books are filled with harsh realities and he’s been known to treat his character pretty rough, he wants to let readers know there’s a softer side, a romantic side between those covers.

Leland Modesitt creates worlds of intrigue filled with realism, imagination and the leaves his readers convinced his worlds are real. Leland’s books can be read by all age groups and are particularly inviting to young adults. Listen to his latest interview as he talks about the romance in his fantasy novels.
