Kobo, the company that makes eReaders, just announced they will begin publishing books early in 2012. Kobo will “edit, design, and sell” the books.
Amazon has been in the publishing business for several years, and just recently added bestselling authors Barry Eisler, and J.A. Konrath to their stable. Kobo is one of Amazon’s largest competitors, particularly in the international eBook market. Kobo, has also just launched it’s own tablet (a direct competitor to Amazon’s Fire Tablet).
There is no word yet on what Kobo’s first published book titles will be, or what authors they have signed.
