The Old Farmer’s Almanac an American reading staple since 1792 is going digital with an eBook version. Available on Amazon, Kindle readers, or those with a Kindle App will have access to America’s wit, wisdom, planting information, moon phases, and of course, the Almanacs weather predictions. (Touting an 80% accuracy rating!)

Almanac publisher Sherin Pierce said in a statement: “We’ve been researching and designing the ebook version of the Old Farmer’s Almanac for years. For us, it wasn’t enough just to make one available; it was essential that whether reading the almanac on a mobile device or on bound paper, the experience was equally satisfying. There’s a reason we’ve been around for 220 years. We move with the times, while always endeavoring to be as – as our founder Robert B. Thomas wrote – ‘useful, with a pleasant degree of humor.'”

In celebration of this new “eVenture”, the Almanac is holding a sweepstakes on Facebook. Running until March 1, 2012. Random winners selected weekly will receive an eBook copy of the of the Almanac, and one winner will receive a Kindle Fire.

For those who still prefer the traditional paper version, it will still be available in stores. Both versions will cost $5.99
