A series written by military correspondent, David Wood about veterans and published by the Huffington Post has just been award the Pulitzer Prize in National Reporting. The series titled, “Beyond the Battlefield,” was released on the Huffington Post blog in 10-parts and is now also available as an eBook. This is the first time the seven year old blog has won a Pulitzer.
The Huffington Post release the following statement: “As HuffPost’s senior military correspondent, David spend nine months speaking with severely wounded veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to soldiers and their families, he interviewed more then two dozen military surgeons, combat medics, rehabilitation specialists, prosthetics engineers, nurses, operating room technicians and medical officials at the Pentagon, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and military hospitals and treatment facilities across the country.”
