0

The social media site Twitter has combined forces with numerous literary organizations to help promote summer reading. The program called, The Learning Network can be “hastagged” and followed on Twitter. The launch day was June 7th, but posts are still being made. Simply using #summerreading you can find reading suggestions, tips and ideas from book clubs and links to literary journals and reviews.

The literary collaborators on the summer reading projects is long list of many admired literary websites, libraries, education facilities and youth literary services.

The idea is to inspire younger people to pick up a book and read, but don’t get the idea that they’ve left out adult readers. There are many books, links and pleasurable reading suggestions for grown-up readers too!

The New York Times Learning Network, in collaboration with the project is sponsoring their 3rd Annual Summer Reading Contest – with books, and prizes.

Here is a link to the list of project collaborators, many of whom are sponsoring their own summer reading programs.
