Several activities and updates are launching during the month of June to celebrate Audio Book Month.
OverDrive, the digital media distributor for libraries is offering some new audio services via their media console. A new feature instant-access technology that is designed to eliminate long downloads of audiobooks from libraries and schools. The streaming option will be available across nearly every electronic device; computers, iPad, iPhone, Androids and select tablets. Here’s a look at the new feature:
The Audio Publishers Association is celebrating the month by posting interviews with authors, narrators and others in the audiobook industry on their website. They have launched a public service campaign called “Get Caught Listening”, which offers tips, suggestions and ways to enhance your book listening. They have also created a hashtag for Twitter users: APA encourages the use of #JIAM2012 for June Is Audiobook Month-specific “tweets”. “Tweet” about audio all year long using#GCL2012.”
Be sure to check your local library and bookstores as many of them have special events, sales, or loan periods on audio materials during the month.
