Creates Buzz With Demo of Newly Launched Online e-Book Site
The start-up takes second place in annual competition by a narrow margin

DENVER, June 26, 2012 – WaveCloud, a new online platform to connect authors and readers, won over attendees at BookExpo America’s Digital Show and Tell by proving that the company has the “right stuff” and the right solution through a demo that highlighted WaveCloud’s positioning and value proposition to both authors and readers.

As a result, the company was rewarded with a second-place finish in the Book Industry Study Group (BISG) event. Industry professionals attended and voted on the participants, which were all exhibitors in BEA’s Digital Zone space during the annual BEA conference held this year in New York City.

“We’re so gratified to have been on the ‘same stage’ with the other participants, and absolutely thrilled that our demo was so well received,” said Bill Van Orsdel, WaveCloud’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Having just launched beta about 48 hours prior to the demo – and making our first appearance at BEA — we were a bit awestruck by the attention. It was certainly a great way to round out our week at the show.”

Over the course of three hours, demonstrators “elevator pitched” their innovative digital projects to small groups of participants for five minutes each. The demonstrations were strictly timed – and once time was up, participants rotated to a new demonstrator. After all the demonstrations, participants voted on their top pick. WaveCloud took second place in the completion, just barely outpaced by Gutenberg Technology.

WaveCloud launched a “limited feature” beta version of its new online book site on June 5, with 150,000 titles for sale and the ability to buy a book, rate a book and review a book. The company is actively developing features and functionality that will allow readers and authors to connect directly with each other to establish and nurture relationships that go beyond the transactional nature of buying a book. WaveCloud’s new features will be rolling out throughout the summer. For more information, visit www.wavecloud.com.
