The Content Conundrum: The Changing Face and Pace of Library Acquisitions

Lake Oswego, OR, CO, USA — August 27, 2012 — Library Journal and PubWest, the leading professional development association for small- and medium-sized book publishers, will present a panel discussion on library book acquisitions in September. Publishers and members of the publishing industry are invited to attend The Content Conundrum: The Changing Face and Pace of Library Acquisitions at the Denver Press Club on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. This panel discussion is part of PubWest’s BookLore program, a series of regional events that explores developing trends in publishing through dynamic panel discussions with publishing experts.

This BookLore panel, moderated by Dodie Ownes of Library Journal, will cover:

  • E-book lending, inventory, licensing, and pricing: How collection development and management is adjusting to this format, including a look at the Douglas County Libraries’ local repository model.
  • Print book acquisition: It’s alive and well.
  • Patron-driven acquisition: How readers affect library collections and collection collaboration.
  • Next steps in the relationships between publishers, librarians, and distributors.
  • Q&A session with the panelists following the presentation

    The BookLore panelists will include:

The Content Conundrum: The Changing Face and Pace of Library Acquisitions offers publishers and members of the publishing industry an opportunity to hear from leading library acquisitions professions on state-of-the-art library practices.

The Denver Press Club is located at 1330 Glenarm Place, Denver, Colorado. The entry fee will be $8 for PubWest members or $12 for nonmembers at the door (no advance sales), paid by cash or check. There will be a cash bar and appetizers. This is an opportunity to learn all about state-of-the art library practices from the experts, and enjoy socializing with others in the greater Denver publishing community.
