The award is to recognize librarians nationwide and the patrons and communities they serve. You can nominate a public, college, school, university of specialty librarian for the award. Here’s more info from the American Library Association:
The Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award encourages library users to recognize the accomplishments of exceptional public, school, college, community college, or university librarians.
10 librarians in 2012 received a $5,000 cash award, a plaque and $500 travel stipend to attend an awards reception in New York, hosted by The New York Times, on December 18, 2012. In addition, a plaque given to each award winner’s library.
Members of the 2012 I Love My Librarian selection committee include Molly Raphael, ALA past president and committee chair; Dr. Rookaya Bawa, Carnegie Corporation of New York; Carl A. Harvey II, past president of the American Association of School Librarians, a division of ALA; Diane McNulty, The New York Times; Joyce L. Ogburn, past president of the Association of College and Research Libraries, a division of ALA; and Eva Poole, President of the Public Library Association, a division of ALA.
The award is a collaborative program of Carnegie Corporation of New York, The New York Times and the American Library Association.
