That’s right, Australian start-up company Flirtey is planning on launching the ‘drone textbook‘ delivery system early next year. Flirtey will be utilizing (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) UAVs, better known as drones to deliver textbooks. They are teaming with Zookal, an Australian textbook company. They are incorporating the ability to track textbooks via GPS so that purchases can actually see their textbooks in flight from their mobile device.

The use of drones is estimated to save the book retailer, about .80 cents per delivery when compared to conventional methods.

Flirty’s CEO and Flirty’s co-founder, Ahmed Haider stated in an interview with Techcrunch: “Textbooks are an excellent way to test the market as they allow for varying weights. With the concentration of students in universities in Australia, we will have proof of concept that shows if you can deliver a textbook, then things such as urgent medical deliveries, clothes, shoes, fast food and other e-commerce will be much more viable.”

The company plans to expand it’s operation into the U.S. by 2015.
