One of the “Big Five Publishers”, Macmillian has announced they will be launching their entire backlist as eBooks. In an effort to reach younger readers, get their titles into libraries and reach readers who have embraced eBooks, Macmillian will make over 11,000 titles available.
OverDrive, 3M and Baker & Taylor, all major library book suppliers, as well as Recorded books will have access to these titles for distribution.
More from Publisher’s Weekly article:  “There were no reported changes in the model Macmillan uses or pricing at this time. Once purchased by a library, e-book titles will be available to lend for two years or 52 lends, whichever comes first, and titles in the pilot were priced at $25.”
Macmillian began an eLending library program earlier this year releasing titles from their Minotaur Mystery/Crime Imprint. Via Baker & Taylor they will be adding titles form all their imprints including Farrar, Straus & Giroux, Henry Holt, Macmillan Children’s, St. Martin’s Press and Tor.
