A partnership between The Navy General Library Program (NGLP) and Findaway World, a digital book delivery service, will make eBooks available to sailors. eReaders with preloaded books will be lent to sailors as part of the Navy’s Morale Welfare and Recreation program. Each device, called “NeRD” will be delivered with 300 books titles in several genres, and classics. The titles were chosen by the U.S. Navy.
Nellie Moffitt, Navy General Library Program manager said: “Navy Installations Command is constantly seeking to provide our proud Sailors around the world with new tools and resources that can enrich their lives. NeRD addresses this goal head-on, with a library of digital titles in a convenient and secure package that circumvents longstanding NGLP challenges in content storage.”
