According to a survey by CordCutting.com, a streaming data site, Americans spend nearly twice as much time watching Netflix as they do reading. Average reading for Americans is 12-books per year, and that number is declining. CordCutting.com found that Netflix users spend an average of 2-hours per day viewing TV programs.

Their survey also found that average American spends; “20 minutes a day reading newspapers, magazines, e-books or novels and 40 minutes socializing with friends.” Even that exceeds the 17-minutes per day they spend exercising.
