This was the 67th year the National Book Foundation has awarded the National Book Award to some of the best literature in the nation. The first year, the award was presented by then First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Here are the

Colson Whitehead – Fiction award for The Underground Railroad published by Doubleday.
Ibram X. Kendi  – Nonfiction award for Stamped from the Beginning published by Nation Books.
Daniel Borzutzky – Poetry award for The Performance of Becoming Human published by Brooklyn Arts Press.
John LewisAndrew Aydin, and Nate Powell – Young People’s Literature award for March: Book Three published by Top Shelf Productions.
