kasichHanover Square Press announced today plans to publish New York Times bestselling author, former Ohio Governor, and CNN Senior Commentator John Kasich’s new book IT’S UP TO US: Ten Little Ways We Can Bring About Big Change in October 2019.

Peter Joseph, Editorial Director at Hanover Square Press, acquired North American and audio rights for the book from Jenny Bent at The Jenny Bent Agency.

In IT’S UP TO US, Kasich shares with readers the twelve guiding principles that have informed his public life for over three decades, offering his observations on how to bring about meaningful change, both from a political point of view and from the perspective of individuals.

His prescription for what ails America?  “Fix things where you live,” he writes, “connect with other people, live a life bigger than yourself, and tell politicians what you expect out of them. Throughout our history, it has been the voice and the demands of the people that have jump-started the movements that have brought about significant change in this country, including civil rights, women’s suffrage, ending the war in Vietnam, and growing environmental awareness.”

In the pages of IT’S UP TO US, Kasich reminds readers that the solutions to our problems are to be found in our homes, in our schools, in our churches and synagogues, and in our own town squares. “Real change and real power comes from where people live and flows to the top, not from the top down,” he notes, “so it’s up to us to make a difference in how the world works.” By recognizing our own important role in the future of America, we can change the tone of our national conversation.

Joseph says, “We are thrilled to be publishing IT’S UP TO US and look forward to sharing Governor Kasich’s hard-won experiences and life lessons to help Americans bridge the deep divide in this country.  In these pages, we hope readers find the inspiration and guidance needed to help bring about the positive change we all want to see.”

John Kasich served as governor of Ohio from 2011-2019. He sought the 2016 Republican nomination for President and became the last candidate standing in opposition to presumptive nominee Donald Trump. From 1983 to 2001, he served as a member of the United States House of Representatives, where he served as a member of Armed Services Committee and was chair of the House Budget Committee – leading America to its first balanced budget in decades. He has also had a successful career as an investment banker, as a commentator and host of “Heartland with John Kasich” on the Fox News Channel, as author of four New York Timesbestselling books, and now as a senior political commentator on CNN. Born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, he and his family live in Westerville, Ohio. https://www.johnkasich.com
