Short Story Summary: “Buy a Bullet” by Gregg Hurwitz
By Mike Pilhman-TraceyReaderDad

Evan Smoak has left the Orphan X program and is sitting in a coffee shop on University Avenue getting ready to head back to LA from the Bay Area.

Minding his own business, Evan spots a man and a woman entering the shop. The man is holding onto a woman by her bicep, and is treating her roughly. But she grins and bears it.

He hears the other customers talking….the man holding the woman is Steve Radack….silicon valley dot-com billionaire and quite the asshole (according to the Internet), where Evan finds the name of Radack’s “girlfriend”….Leanne Lattimore, from Kansas City.

Smoak decides she may be his first customer post Orphan X, but he needs to be 100 percent sure…..because….

Death is permanent.
