From Amazon’s Press Release:Â Â
We are winding down Kindle Vella
We’ve made the difficult decision to bring Kindle Vella to a close in February 2025.
Why are you winding down Kindle Vella?
This was a difficult decision. We are grateful for all of the authors and readers who participated in Kindle Vella and, while we remain committed to experimenting and testing new ideas to deliver unique and delightful experiences for both readers and authors, Kindle Vella hasn’t caught on as we’d hoped.
What will happen to the stories and episodes I have read and unlocked when the program closes?
All the stories and episodes you have read or unlocked with tokens will remain available in your library in the free Kindle app on iOS and Android after the program closes. To read your stories in the Kindle app, download the Kindle app for iOS on the App Store, or get the Kindle app for Android on Google Play. Stories will no longer be available for reading on the web.
Can I continue to read stories and unlock episodes using tokens until the program closes?
Yes, we recommend that you unlock any stories and episodes you are interested in reading as soon as possible. Authors will continue to publish new episodes to stories and you will be able to purchase new tokens until December 4th. After December 4th, no more new episodes will be made available and you will no longer be able to buy new tokens. You can continue to use your remaining tokens to unlock episodes until the program closes in February 2025.
What if I have unused tokens after Kindle Vella closes?
We’ll reach out to you in February 2025 if you have any tokens left over. At that time we will automatically credit your Amazon account balance with an Amazon.com gift card in an amount equal to the value of your remaining Tokens.
Can I keep my unlocked Kindle Vella stories and episodes?
Yes, any episodes you have read or unlocked with tokens will remain available in your library in the free Kindle app on iOS and Android after the program winds down. To read your stories in the Kindle app, download the Kindle app for iOS on the App Store, or get the Kindle app for Android on Google Play. Stories will no longer be available for reading on the web.
