In a recent survey conducted by CityTownInfo.com, they found that “81% of American adults use the Internet” and other digital services at the library. The survey also discovered that “62% of libraries were  the sole provider” of digital services in their respective communities.
Today, most libraries have become much more than quiet institutions of books, they are in many areas a community center. Offering free technology classes, digital assistance, free wi-fi, and computer classes for their patrons. While the digital services make up a percentage of what patrons want, books are still the most requested item.
Fortunately, many communities have continued support of libraries and their numbers have actually increased over the last ten years. The increase however, has not kept up with population growth.
