Where the Readers Are

Smashwords founder, Mark Coker recently completed a survey on his ebook forum Mobileread.  The results of this survey show how today’s readers find books and new authors. The survey was consisted of twelve questions and those participating were only allowed to select a single answer.

Overwhelmingly, (29% of respondents) said they discovered new books and authors via “fellow readers online, forums, blogs and message boards.” Nearly 18% said they sought out their favorite authors first, and 4% said they took recommendations from friends or family.
