RT Booklover’s Convention is Under Way!

Los Angeles, CA.
April 6, 2011
By Sheila English

The RT Booklover’s convention in Los Angeles started with a welcome mixer and a tribute to the late, great Walter Zacharias, the founder of Kensington Publishing who passed away in Feb. of this year. The convention was dedicated to the much beloved Zacharias.

Workshops and panels started soon after and Club RT went into full swing where there are amazing gift basket raffles, jewelery, beautiful items, book covers, publishing industry professionals sharing their wares and services.

The highlight of my day happened a little after 2PM when I got a call from author Howard Gordon whose debut novel Gideon’s War was a great success. Gordon, who is best known as the executive producer of the hit show 24 and X-Files among other successes, was shooting a new show only two blocks from the Westin where the convention is being held. Barbara Vey of Publisher’s Weekly blog Beyond Her Book joined me a the quick jaunt to the shoot where we were able to interview Howard and were treated to some behind the scenes action of the new show starring Jason Isaacs. Isaacs was recently in Harry Potter as Lucious Mafloy and he was also in The Patriot with Mel Gibson. Also set Wilmer Valdarrama from That ’70’s Show who is all grown up and quite handsome.

The convention is just now underway and more celebrity sitings are predicted.
