New York, New York
Ice-T and Coco, Julianne Moore, Tanya Wright and other celebrities showed up to promote their books at Book Expo America in New York yesterday. More and more celebrities seem to be crossing over into the realm of publishing. Even Bill Rasmussen, founder of ESPN has a book out and walked the halls of BEA. BEA is in full swing and the lines to the autographing sessions are long but full of enthusiasm.
The showroom floor is packed with vendors and publishers as they are every year but this year there is an increase in smaller vendors with niche specialties. BookPage, Book Hub, Inc, Book Depot and other names new or unique to the floor are a sign that the publishing industry is pulling out of the recession and flourishing once more.
The Blog World and New Media event, which is running concurrent with the BEA is also seeing a lot of traffic. Workshops continue on today that include How to Dominiate Google & Bing With Your Blog, The Business of Broadcasting, Killer YouTube Tactics That Build Responsive Online Audience and more.
As usual there are many books being handed out, signed and/or promoted and an energy about the event that brings hope and much needed revenue to the industry.
