Google+ has just released a limited/beta version of a new social media tools. According to Google’s press release, this will be a social media “toolkit” with “shared networkds, interactive chats and video conferences,” which users can selectively create. In other words, if you don’t want co-workers to see your family you can creat separate “circles” for each, keeping the two groups world’s apart.

As a tool for authors, this could help you connect with readers by creating reader events, book clubs, author chats  and even your pseudenyms all in seperate “circles”.
