PubWest Announces 2011 Conference Registration and Keynote Speaker: Len Riggio, Chairman of Barnes & Noble
(Portland, OR) — PubWest, the leading trade association for small- and medium-sized book publishers, is pleased to announce that Len Riggio, Chairman of Barnes & Noble, will be the featured keynote speaker for the PubWest Conference 2011 in November. Riggio is recognized as a visionary and brilliant marketer and entrepreneur for his lifetime of work building Barnes & Noble from a single store to the world’s leading bookseller with over 1,300 retail locations. As the PubWest Conference 2011 keynote, Riggio will discuss his 50 years in business, his thoughts on the future of bookselling, and his predictions for the future of reading from print to screen. Registration for the PubWest Conference 2011 opens to all publishing professionals on Tuesday, August 23, at www.pubwest.org/conference.
The PubWest Conference 2011 will be held November 3–5 at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Henderson, Nevada, just minutes from the Las Vegas strip. The conference theme is “Beating the Odds: Making Money Making Books” and will offer three keynotes, two intensive sessions and ten dynamic sessions all focused on making publishing more profitable.
“The PubWest Conference 2011 will build on the success of the PubWest 2010’s conference “Unleashing Your Publishing Potential,” which focused on ebooks, apps, and new ways to monetize book content,” said PubWest president Derek Lawrence. “Over the past three years at our conference, we’ve explored the impact of ebooks, the best ways to make digital content, and new techniques for making and selling print books. The cards may seem stacked against book publishers, but we will focus on making a return on both traditional books and new publishing formats. In today’s economy, how can publishers make money making books? The PubWest Conference 2011 will ask the top innovators in publishing for their insights into new ways to succeed in publishing.”
PubWest’s most recent conferences have featured speakers and panelists like Dominique Raccah of Sourcebooks, Skip Prichard of Ingram Content Group, Andrew Savikas of O’Reilly Media’s Tools of Change Conference, Kevin Smokler of Byliner.com, and many more of the leading voices in new format publishing. The PubWest Conference offers a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the most innovative leaders in publishing, printing and binding, design, copyediting and proofing, and legal services.
