She was once a spy for country and queen, but left it behind for a handsome husband and a title…and happiness.
But, she is called back in for one final mission and things begin to go awry.
Victoria Alexander is a master storyteller and anyone who loves historical romance should be reading her.
Her characters are witty, realistic, fun and endearing. Evelyn Hadley-Attwater, a.k.a. “Eve”, was a well-trained and successful spy. In the Victorian period female spies were a rare breed and Eve is certainly that.
What I love most about this book is the dialog. Alexander does dialog extremely well. Though there were some aspects of the book that were predictable, there was a fair amount of intrigue and “How will the author explain this?” going on as well. Overall a very fun read.
