Reading Rainbow is Back

The long running PBS children’s reading series, Reading Rainbow hosted by actor Levar Burton is making a comeback. This time however, Reading Rainbow will be an interactive app created for iPad. In an interview with Mr. Burton, who is also the shows producer he said: “Television was the technology we used in the 80’s to get the attention of kids and steer them back in the direction of literature. Now this is a whole new universe.” He is very involved with the project from selecting the children’s books, to narrating them, as well as taking young viewers on “virtual field trips” via the app.

The Reading Rainbow apps are geared to ward readers in the 3 – 9 year old range. Content will be offered as a monthly subscription for $9.99 or an unlimited access 6-month subscription for $29.99.
