Nine years! It certainly doesn’t seem that long. For nine years, bestselling author Lori Foster has been hosting a “Reader/Writer Get Together” in SW Ohio. It has grown fast. This year it sold out in days and nearly 500 people attended. It is one of the best event for not only authors, but readers. Fans can share a table with their favorite authors, get books signed, and do it all in a relaxed atmostphere at an affordable price.
Each year, authors, readers and publishers donate baskets of amazing goodies for raffle. This money is used to support some amazing local charities: The One Way Farm, being on of them. If you’ve ever considered donating to a worthwhile charity, please consider this one. This year, the raffle raised over $14,000 dollars!
Reader’s Entertainment/Circle of Seven Productions donated several amazing baskets of goodies (think books) as well as a premier booktrailer package valued at over $1000. The happy winner of the package was Donna MacMeans, author of engaging Victorian historicals. Congratulations, Donna.
This year the event also featured publisher and author rooms where readers could spend one-on-one time with some of their favorite authors and find loads of ‘swag’. There were free books, t-shirts, and pens. On Friday, there were an Indie Author Signing and on Saturday a signing for more traditionally published authors. Both of the signings were free and open to the public.
Aspiring authors could ‘pitch’ their book ideas to many of the agents, editors and publishers that attended. Kim Killion of Hot Damn Designs was on hand to take pictures of friends and hot cover models, and a Author Island sponsored a fun party. This is one event that everyone can find something to enjoy — whether it’s attending a party, pitching a book, joining in a book discussion or sitting quietly at a table with friends.
