Determined to promote Indie authors as well as traditionally published authors,
event creators Wendi Owens and KiKi Chatfield held the perfect event this October – the Queen City Indie Con. Starting on Friday with a day full of workshops. Panels included New York Times, USA Today and Amazon bestselling indie authors like: Samantha Young, Abbi Glines, Jayne Rylon, Robyn Peterman, and Tonya Kappes.
The panels included information on marketing, character building and how YA/NA are changing. These were held in the stunning Cincinnati Music Hall. A huge stage surrounded by turn of the century gilded decorations, marble steps, and gentle decor of a time past, was a perfect platform for the authors.
The keynote address was given by Abbi Glines. She did a very fun video as part of her speech featuring other authors and their thoughts on the writing life, and the indie writing life.
In closing author Samantha Young brought the audience to tears as she recounted her difficult journey to publishing and her success as an indie author. Her beautiful Scottish accent only added to the depth of her story.
The following day, a booksigning was held at the Cincinnati Millenium Hotel in their Grand Ballroom. Romance, mystery, young adult, new adult, and erotic authors were featured. After the signing, readers and authors mingled at a Royal Affair Event complete with tiaras that were given to winning authors (picked by readers) in several categories. From the success of this event, organizers seemed pretty certain there will be a Queen City Indie Con next year.
