The Reader Author Get Together has become lovingly known as RAGT. Author Lori Foster has been hosting this amazing event for over twenty years, and it keeps getting better.
This event brings together readers and dozens of authors in a fun filled weekend that includes booksignings, author hosted event rooms, themed dinner parties, books, author hosted parties, books, friendship and raffle baskets!!!
This year set a record for the number of raffle baskets. These are donated by authors, and readers and reflect some of the most creative minds in basket making! All of these fantastic baskets raise money for CancerFree Kids!!
“CancerFree KIDS aims to find more effective and gentler treatments for childhood cancer by funding innovative research projects in the early stages of development. New ideas need money to grow, yet potential breakthrough treatment methods often go unfunded because pediatric cancer research is drastically limited. CancerFree KIDS provides grants to high-risk/high-reward childhood cancer research projects in these crucial early stages, which allows researchers to prove their concept, secure additional funding, and eventually create new treatments for kids.”
Authors and readers are a generous group and this year the event raised…..$37,340!!!!

This year RAGT also dealt with a hotel fire. No one was hurt, but an electrical fire on the third floor required an evacuation, and the hotel and some books suffered water damage. Both the hotel and the local fire departments were amazing!
