The National Book Critics Circle brings together people who love books. Their membership includes critics, authors, bloggers, students, book publishing personnel and freelance critics. Connecting members with literary events, new publishers and offering tips and education for reviewers all year. They have a very well-done blog — Critical Mass, that anyone can access for information.

Each year, they honor those books their members have chosen as being some of the best literature published that year. For 2012, the National Book Critics Circle award for fiction has been given to Ben Fountain for his novel Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and for non-fiction, Andrew Solomon for Far from the Tree: Parents, Children and the Search for Identity.
