As Reader’s Entertainment reported back in September (link here), a Bexar County Texas library broke ground on a digital only library. That library has just opened and inside you won’t find one print book. Instead the BiblioTech patrons will have access to pre-loaded iMacs that are available for check out, and iPad stations for reading, research and surfing the Internet.

Patrons will find 10,000 electronic titles, 100 e-readers, 50 on site computer stations, 25 laptops and 25 tablets for use in the library.

Besides eBooks, patrons can also check out audiobooks, videos and software instructional databases, and eReaders. Classes will be offered free of charge to patrons who wish to use the digital library and all of it’s services.  Located in an economically depressed area of the city the library is sharing space with the county government building in a strip mall. Officials are hopeful the library will attract younger patrons and inspire a new generation of readers and library users, in a previously under-served area.
