Wild Night at Mardi Gras

The big event today was Mardi Gras, at least RT style.  Readers were shuttled over to Mardi Gras World and the mansion was set up for a Pirates and Scalawags party.  The authors dressed as one or the other, but to tell you the truth, some of them didn’t know which one they were.  But they all were having fun anyway.

Besides the goodies on tables for readers, everyone received a booty bag filled with books and swag.  In addition, there were themed door prizes with wall clocks that had the author book covers on them, pillows that said Happily Ever After, and beads everywhere.

Hurricane shots were a hit and readers could keep the shot glasses that had a skull and cross bones on it.  After enjoying the hijinx at the party, readers were taken next door to the warehouse where Mardi Parade floats are stored.  Then there was a big parade sponsored by the publishers and their authors rode on them throwing beads to the crowd.  Next up was the party itself with different local food stations sponsored by each publisher around the room.  More beads, books and music so those who wanted to could dance.

You could tell it was a successful event by the slow procession of readers to the buses that would carry them back to the hotel when it was over.

Bottom Line:  Well done publishing…a real treat for the readers.
