Throwback Thursday Book Trailer: New Moon by Rebecca York

0

From March 9th, 2007

Dark secrets and parallel universes bring together a man who is part wolf and a woman who is his lifemate…from another world. If you loved Underworld, you won’t want to miss New Moon by Rebecca York. http://www.rebeccayork.com
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Landscape architect Logan Marshall is out for a jog—in his werewolf form—when a trap catches his paw. As it saps his strength, he is saved by another werewolf, who—to Logan’s amazement—is female.

Female werewolves aren’t supposed to exist. But Rinna is a shapeshifter from another dimension who’s traveled through a portal to this world. And the trap that ensnared Logan was set by her former captor, and meant for her.

But as soon as Rinna and Logan touch, an electrifying bond forms between them. Unable to resist his desire for Rinna, in all her many forms, Logan will have to earn her trust, and travel through both dimensions to save her—and earth—from the wrath of her enemy.

Penguin Random House to Purchase Simon & Schuster

0

In a just released press release, it has been announced the Penguin Random House Books will purchase the veritable Simon & Schuster Publishing.

Here are details from the companies press release::

ViacomCBS to Sell Simon & Schuster to Penguin Random House for $2.175 Billion

ViacomCBS Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAC, VIACA) today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell the publishing business Simon & Schuster (“Simon & Schuster”) to Penguin Random House LLC (“Penguin Random House”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA, for $2.175 billion in cash.

This divesture follows a strategic review of non-core assets ViacomCBS undertook early in 2020. Proceeds from the transaction will be used to invest in ViacomCBS’s strategic growth priorities, including in streaming, as well as to fund the dividend and pay down debt.

This transaction is the outcome of a highly competitive auction that attracted interest from buyers around the world, reflecting Simon & Schuster’s position as one of the world’s best known publishing brands. Simon & Schuster has more than 30 publishing units across adult, children, audio and international. Its portfolio of best-selling authors includes Stephen King, Doris Kearns Goodwin and Jason Reynolds, and it owns a rich backlist of perennial favorite titles such as Catch-22 and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

The transaction is expected to close in 2021, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. Upon close, Simon & Schuster will continue to be managed as a separate publishing unit under the Penguin Random House umbrella, and Jonathan Karp, President & CEO of Simon & Schuster, and Dennis Eulau, COO and CFO, will continue at the helm of the publishing house.

LionTree Advisors is acting as the exclusive financial advisor and Shearman & Sterling LLP is acting as legal advisor to ViacomCBS in this transaction.

There has been no news as to how this will affect authors in the venture.

Book Review: A Bride of Convenience

A Bride of Convenience by Jody Hedlund

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is such a heartwarming book. I absolutely love the characters and how they come to life. Zoe is kind, caring, and looking for a new life. She goes on a bride ship to not only find a new life, but to look for her brother that ran away years before. Abe is gentle, god loving pastor who love ministering to the miners. He is hoping that one day he goes back to England to marry his sweetheart. However, things never are quite what they seem. God has other plans for both Zoe, and Abe. When their lives collide in an inopportune time, they are both set forth on a path that they must travel together. Yet, with the past catching up to both of them, they need to form a solid front to survive the new frontier. I love this series and can’t wait to read more. Happy reading my friends.

Book Review: Virgin River by Robyn Carr

Virgin River by Robyn Carr

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is such a great story. I loved every bit of it, especially the setting. I love the Redwood trees, the rivers, and just the natural beauty of Humboldt and Mendocino Counties have. Robyn described the scenery so perfectly at times I thought I was driving through the Redwoods myself. So, enough about the scenery since I’m a bit biased. The storyline was great. I liked the main character and how at a time in her life she needed a change. So instead of changing city life for another city life, she takes a small job in a podunk town in the middle of nowhere. She’s serious about leaving her old life behind and starting fresh, and she chooses just the right spot too! Of course there are many things to get use to. Small towns don’t have everything, and sometimes you need to drive to get it. However, she manages and starts to make a life for herself there. There are a few twists and turns I was expecting at all! Now I’m hooked and can’t wait to read the next story in this series. Happy reading my friends.

Darko: The Sacred Heart of Johanee Darko Book Trailer

When everything falls apart, getting back to the basics is often the best answer. Kenny G. Down, continuing his work as a “grateful and awakened spiritual seeker,” brings to the public an uplifting story in his latest book,

Darko: The Sacred Heart of Johanee Darko. During this journey one will learn why it’s necessary to fight for what is right and never give in to the darkness. This book abounds with a wide range of lessons during our own times of confusion and chaos https://newthoughtlife.org/

“Kenny G. Down’s writing is articulate, the concepts are radiant, the use of religious commentary is delivered in a way that all readers can embrace, and the characters are fascinating, make a tremendous impact, and make us think – and hopefully change.”
