#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan teams with top book video producer Circle of Seven Productions to create a twelve-episode video series as a gift to her fans. The series is a prequel to Feehan’s hugely popular Carpathian series, a series that caused Time Magazine to name Feehan the person most credited with popularizing the neck gripper after Bram Stoker, Anne Rice and Joss Whedon.
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 3, 2013 –
It’s not the holiday season yet, but #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan has given a huge gift to the fans of her Carpathian series in the form of a twelve-episode video series based off her Carpathian mythology and a prequel to the first book in her series entitled Dark Prince. Dark Prince, which was originally published in 1999 was Feehan’s first novel using the Carpathian mythology. To date Feehan has written dozens of books in the series.
The prequel is set in the late 1400’s and follows the downfall of the Carpathian race that included war and near extinction. Very little is said in the series and when Feehan met with Circle of Seven Productions CEO, Sheila Clover English about creating a web series for fans they determined a prequel that could also tie in with the current trilogy within the series would be the most fun for the fans.
Feehan financed the entire project including the twelve episodes which will be released once a month and leads up to the final book in the trilogy, Dark Blood. In addition she also included book trailers for each of the trilogy books; Dark Lycan which is out now, Dark Wolf out in January of 2014 and Dark Blood in September 2014. The series premise addresses visions of the future that tie in with the trilogy and include scenes from the book trailers, a potential war between Carpathians and Lycans and addresses the personal demons of the first Prince of Carpathians, Vladimir Dubrinsky played by actor John Wells.
The commercial for the web series and the first episode is currently available on YouTube.com/booktrailers. The series is called Before the Dark. Fan reaction has been extremely positive with 7000 views within 24 hours of the video going live to the public. The first day it appeared on the author’s website the site, which has its own dedicated server, crashed several times as thousands of fans rushed to watch the video. Hundreds of people signed up for Feehan’s online community site that day and announcement of the “secret gift” was shared over 3500 times within a 24 hour period on the author’s Facebook fan page.
“I don’t know of any author that has given such a huge and creative gift to fans,” says English who directed and co-wrote the script for Before the Dark. “It’s unique, it stays within the mythology of the series and it will last all year as fans eagerly await the release of the next two novels in that series. It’s an awesome gift.”
Feehan, who is well known for great gifts at her FAN convention every year shared, “My readers have been loyal and supportive all these years and I wanted them to know how much I appreciate them and the success of the series.”
Circle of Seven Productions who trademarked the term “book trailer” in 2002 and have been credited for popularizing book videos online have worked with Feehan since 2001 when the first book trailer, Dark Symphony, also a Carpathian novel, was produced. Since then the company has gone on to produce over 1000 book videos for authors such as R. L. Stine of Goosebumps fame and Howard Gordon, producer of popular TV series 24 and Homeland, and with publishers such as National Geographic, Random House, Tor/Forge, Simon & Schuster and many others. The company has won more industry awards for book video than any company in the world and have recently opened an office in London, England.
