First Book is a non-profit organization that provides new books to children in need. To date, First Book has given over 135 million low cost or free books to in need communities nationwide. The group was founded in 1992, and has grown with the help of donations, and author participation.
This year, Disney is donating 50-million books to the initiative and to celebrate they’ve enlisted the narration talents of film director Steven Spielberg to narrate their video for the “fourth annual Magic of Storytelling campaign through March 31.”
First Book has First Book has partnered with Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) to create Authors & Illustrators in Action! They are inviting authors and illustrators to participate and they can find details of how to join by following this link.
