The digital collections in public libraries has expanded substantially over the last few years, and in 2015 over one-million e-books were loaned out in 30 libraries. According to Overdrive – the digital book supplier to libraries – the number is expected to be shattered in 2016.
They report that 50 library systems have already circulated 500,000 ebooks in the first six months of this year. These libraries are not just located within the U.S., but Canada, New Zealand, and Singapore.
