Shadows Reel” by C.J. Box

By my count……”Shadows Reel” is book #22 in the Joe Pickett series. Yikes! 🙂

In a few days it will be Thanksgiving and the three, now grown, Pickett girls will be home to celebrate.

Lucy, the youngest, is now a Sophomore at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. She will also be bringing a friend.

Adopted daughter, April is now 22 and living in Montana. She brings news that she is possibly on the cusp of a new job with a PI named Cassie Dewell (read “Treasure State”).

Sheridan is now 24 (yikes) and working for Nate Romanowski in his falconry business. She is living with Nate, Liv Romanowski, and their young daughter Kestral nearby in Saddlestring, WY.

Nate won’t be a Thanksgiving dinner as he is out of town seeking revenge against Axel Soledad who beat up Liv and stole his “air force” of raptors in the last book. Nate, luckily, has hooked up with a fellow falconer named Geronimo to find, and destroy, Axel.

A few days before Thanksgiving, Game Warden Joe is called out to check a dead moose that turned out to be a badly burned body of a local resident! WTF.

Just prior to that, Director of the Library, MaryBeth saw a man drop off a photo album at the library…..the album is from WWII and contains shocking photos of Hitler, et al.

Then another body turns up, an innocent old woman.

What the fudge is going on?

All these events come together, then…..

Everything goes western!

To find out what happens you will have to read the book! 😉

“Shadows Reel” is a fun, fast thriller with lots of action…..LOTS of action……intrigue, history, and…..deadly, brutal, violence.
