Karen Kingsbury is known for her Christian-centered fiction and is one of the few authors to cross over into the secular field while staying true to her Christian roots.

Known for writing “Life-changing fiction” Kingsbury definitely does that with her newest novel Shades of Blue.

Brad Cutler lives in New York and has a dream job. A dream life! He is engaged to the love of his life who also happens to be the boss’s daughter. Brad is a Christian man and the relationship between him and Laura seems perfect. But, a past sin comes back to haunt Brad and before he can marry Laura and start his new life with her he has to go back home to North Carolina and right a wrong. Unfortunately that means seeing his old high school sweetheart. Brad only makes matters worse when he doesn’t confide in Laura about Emma and what happened many years ago.

This book touches on a lot of real-life topics. Difficult ones. The characters feel real and you care about them immediately. You wonder what the past mistake is, whether or not Brad will remain with Laura or if Laura can forgive him when she finds out about Brad’s past.

The book is thought provoking and sincere. Regardless of whether or not you read Christian fiction, this book transcends the boundaries of genre and will appeal to anyone searching for a well-written story about redemption, forgiveness and love.
