Welcome Cheryl! We are excited to have you here today, and talk about your latest release which is a trilogy. Let’s get to it…..
You write historical romance. Do you ever wish you could go back in time and live the lives of your heroines? Or are you glad you are alive today?
I’ll pick the modern era. I doubt I would have done well in an older era. I’m too smart, driven, and stubborn. I would have driven men crazy, because I would have constantly tried to have a “bigger” life than men would have me allowed to have.
Have you considered writing contemporary romances again?
My great regret is that there are only 24 hours in a day. I have so many ideas rolling around in my head, but there’s never enough time to write them down. I would love to write more contemporaries, but I’m already doing three historical romances per year, and that’s how I earn my income, so I have to put those first. I simply don’t have time to add another one to the list.
That said, I finished my Summer, 2020 trilogy earlier than I planned, so I have some extra time this year. I’m going to write a contemporary women’s novel that will be released in spring, 2021. The title will be: A Summer Wedding at Cross Creek Inn. I’ll release more info about it in the fall, after I have the cover art done.
Tell us a little about your latest trilogy.
This year, I’m releasing my “Lost Girls” trilogy.
For several summer now, I’ve been writing linked trilogies that have a defined premise that carries the plot through all three novels. In this series, the link is that the heroines were traveling to Jamaica with their families when they were little girls, and their ship sank in a terrible storm. Against all odds, they were the only survivors. They were found on a deserted island by British sailors, but no one could figure out how they survived—and they were too young to explain much of what had happened to them.
They were returned to England, where they enjoyed a bit of notoriety. Then they were separated and doled out to distant relatives. They never saw each other again. When the novels start, it’s the 20th anniversary of the shipwreck, and the three women’s lives are pitched off in new and exciting directions where they meet the men of the dreams.
Wow, this sounds like an exciting trilogy!!
