New Book by Pearl S. Buck

Yes, you read that correctly. A long lost manuscript by the Pulitzer Prize winning author Pearl S. Buck, was discovered in storage in Texas. Buck is best known for The Good Earth, a book that has become an American classic in literature.

Her son has given consent for Open Road Integrated Media to publish the newly discovered work entitled The Eternal Wonder and it is scheduled for release in October 22, 2013 in digital and print format. According to her family, the work was completed just prior to her death. Open Road Media currently owns the rights to 28 of Buck’s works.

The Eternal Wonder is “a coming-of-age story of Randolph Colfax, “an extraordinarily gifted young man whose search for meaning and purpose leads him to New York, England, Paris, a mission patrolling the demilitarized zone in Korea that will change his life forever—and, ultimately, to love.”

Jane Friedman of Open Road, Michael Carlisle of InkWell, and Edgar S. Walsh, Buck’s son, said in a joint statement: We are thrilled to discover and publish a novel by one of only two American women to ever win both the Nobel and Pulitzer prizes.”

Buck won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1938 and was the first woman to be awarded the prize, she passed away in 1973.
