Amazon and Mattel to Produce American Girl Series

In a recently announced multi-million dollar, multi-year contract with Mattel, Amazon will produce several episodes of The American Girls. The characters owned by Mattel will appear over multiple seasons. The BeForever historical line of American Girls, and Girl of the Year, featuring more modern girls will be highlighted first. The episodes will be live action and will be available via Amazon Prime.

Amazon Studios’ head of kids programming, Tara Sorensen, said in a statement; “American Girl resonates strongly with kids and parents alike through its message of self-confidence, adventure, exploration and learning. Their research dives deep and adds rich layers to the IP that are unparalleled in this space which, in turn, will facilitate a truly enriched on-screen experience.”

American Girl will join Amazon’s programming for kids that includes; Just Add Magic, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, Annedroids, Tumbleleafand Wishenpoof.
