Author’s Holiday Office Style: DEBRA PARMLEY

Everything is a bit different for us this holiday season. My writing office was our first room decorated for Christmas this year. My husband and I decorated the room five days before Thanksgiving, an hour before we had a three-hour drive from Memphis to the airport in Nashville so that I could take pictures to share with you. From Nashville, we flew to Fort Lauderdale where we boarded the Norwegian Star for a ten-day Caribbean cruise to Jamaica, Aruba, Curaco, St.Maarten, and St. Thomas.

The decorations in my office this year are a combination of old and new. I have a Dickens Village collection, which I’ve been collecting for over twenty years. My husband used to buy me a new piece to add to the collection every Christmas. The Dickens pieces decorating my office this year are, Dickens mailing his first manuscript, the Publishing house, the Curiosity Shop and the chocolate wagon. The year Mike gave me the chocolate wagon, he tricked me. I held the package and shook it saying, “What can it be?” He said, “It’s chocolate.” Now this was a heavy and solid package and I thought, oh my goodness, how in the world will I ever eat all this chocolate? Then when I opened it I was surprised, excited and relieved.

The newest decorations in my office are six Christmas elves.

They will only visit my house this season until my elf party is over then they will move to new homes as prizes. This will be the third year I’ve hosted my ‘twelve days of Christmas Elf’ party on Facebook. This year I’m celebrating the release of To Catch an Elf: Pennsylvania Fighter Pilot, which comes out in December. These six elves that are climbing all over my bookshelves getting ready for the party.

To Catch an Elf: Pennsylvania Fighter Pilot, is the story of Ted Barr, the twin brother of Jack Barr, the hero in Montana Marine. Marcie Hayes who is house sitting and dog sitting in the Pocono Mountains at Christmas time when she meets Ted.

The homeowner has instructed Marcie to take pictures of the elf every day for the Biggest Busiest Elf Contest and then to text them to her so she can enter the pictures in the contest for a chance to win. She’s determined to win the five thousand dollar prize and she has an antique girl elf named Tanana that she received as a gift from her boyfriend. Ginger, her King Charles spaniel, does not like the elf and barks at the elf every time she sees it.

Marcie has caught the attention of a serial killer and when she goes missing, Ted is determined to find her.

Now because I am finishing this book over the Thanksgiving holiday, in between travels, I’m going to tell you about Jack Barr’s story, Ted’s twin brother. Jack is the hero in Montana Marine.

Marine Recon Gunnery Sergeant Jack “Gunny” Barr has retired and returned to Texas when he’s hired by The Brotherhood Protectors bodyguard service in Montana. His job is to protect the volatile actress Angelica Glory. She’s a bombshell and an obsessive stalker has fixated on her as a target. Lucy Wood, her shy assistant, has her hands full watching out for her. When the women are sent to Montana to lay low until the stalker is caught, Angelica has nothing to do but lay by the pool drinking rum and cola while trying to seduce the hunky bodyguard set to protect them or die trying. Jack and Lucy are drawn to each other, but working for Angelia leaves little time to see where their desires might lead. A dangerous stalker with a love obsession is determined to have the woman of his dreams.
