Upcoming Release: Her Part to Play by Jenny Erlingsson

Her Part to Play by Jenny Erlingsson

Witty, poetic, and full of soul, Her Part to Play is a breath of fresh air in the contemporary romance space—as is its lively cast of characters. This tender, interracial romance takes place in the high-pressure situation of a busy movie set and features two main characters who could not be more different—or more perfect for each other. Debut author Jenny Erlingsson draws from her own experiences as a woman of Nigerian descent who married an Icelandic man as she brings to life the particular challenges and delights of finding love and belonging in the most unexpected places.

When her mother received a dire medical diagnosis, makeup artist Adanne Stewart didn’t hesitate to leave the bright lights of Tinseltown to take care of the woman who had inspired her dream in the first place. But being home in Hope Springs, Alabama, has its challenges, not the least of which is the loss of her source of income. When her cousin tells her of a last-minute opportunity to earn some money, Adanne has to take the job—though the money hardly seems worth having to face the actor who got her fired from her last position in Hollywood.

Actor John Pope is well aware that he’s made mistakes over the years. Lots of them. But after turning his life over to God and enduring a messy breakup, he’s trying to start rebuilding his career, and a film that will take him out of Hollywood for a while seems like a great way to get that fresh start. There’s just one problem: the woman who’s been called in to cover for his usual makeup artist is on the feisty side—and she’s definitely not a fan.

Sparks of tension—and could that be attraction?—fly between them, but Adanne hates the spotlight, and John’s scheming manager has bigger plans for him than to end up with the humble makeup artist from the small-town South. Can these star-crossed lovers find their way to happiness? Or will the bright lights of Hollywood blind them to what’s right in front of them?
