So Bad It Must Be Good - HighResWhen Pinterest Strikes by Nicole Helm

I love Pinterest. I learned long ago no matter how many recipes or crafts I pin, I’ll never actually do them, but luckily I’m a writer! This means when I come across an interesting pin, it can immediately become fictional. I don’t have to do it, but I can still use it.

When I was working on my book SO BAD IT MUST BE GOOD, I knew my hero was going to be a handyman who’s hobby was woodworking. I know nothing about woodworking, but I wanted there to be some things he sold at a farmer’s market. So, to Pinterest I went, searching for ‘woodworking’ ideas and some things he could make and sell.

I never expected it to become a symbol, or a big part of the book, I just needed some visual ideas so I could describe them. But inspiration comes from everywhere, and random Pinterest searches are no exception.

I stumbled upon something called a lovespoon. They were not only adorable, but once I did some research, the absolute perfect thing to include in a romance novel. Lovespoons are wooden spoons carved with different decorations that have different romantic meanings, usually a Welsh traditional gift for engagements or weddings.

So, my hero in all his infinite wisdom, decided that romance sells, and he creates lovespoons to sell at the farmer’s market. Since the hero and heroine have known each other a long time, and the heroine has always thought the hero stoic and unfeeling, she’s quite surprised to find Liam Patrick has this secret romantic side to him.

And then, the sparks begin to fly!

SO BAD IT MUST BE GOOD by Nicole Helm

Wrong guy. Wrong situation. Might be right.

Free of her overbearing family and their dreams, not hers, Kayla Gallagher is living for herself instead of for her clan’s successful restaurant. Step One: finally make her move on Aiden Patrick, the bad-boy son of Gallagher’s long-time repairman. Too bad Aidan’s taciturn older brother shows up instead . . .

As the “responsible Patrick,” Liam has always made a conscious choice to do the right thing. He likes fixing things for people—whether it be a broken appliance or a bad situation. Which means he can’t just brush off the quiet Gallagher. Clearly, she needs a shoulder to lean on. But suddenly a shoulder becomes so much more, and Kayla isn’t the quiet little girl she used to be. She’s a vivid, down-for-anything woman showing Liam several sizzling ways to put passion first . . .

As things heat up between them, Liam’s family threatens to come apart for good. The only way Liam can set things right means giving up Kayla. But she’s not about to take no for an answer—or let their chance for something sweeter than desire crash-and burn without a fight.
